It was June 14th afternoon when I returned home and was having a quality time with my cousins during our lunch. Then, a notification popped up on my phone’s screen which was “Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide at his residence”. For a while, I was thinking it might be some fake news and hoping it to be so but within no time, almost all contacts in my WhatsApp started to share the news in their stories. Personally, it was so disturbing for me that the incident shook me as a whole. I couldn’t come out of it for a few days probably because it was the last thing one could have expected from a person like SSR. When days passed and I started to dig out the news, it was very disappointing to see the people using his demise for their own agenda. It is quite normal these days that people take advantage of someone’s death for personal vendetta. We were too late to understand his twitter bio “Photon in a double-slit”. He was too intelligent to say things as no one can understand. Now he might be trying hard to find his telescope from somewhere very high which he used for stargazing.
“Jab sitare, sitare ban jaate hain toh poori kaaynaat ghamzada hojaati hai” (When stars end their lives then the whole universe grieves)
Since the release of ‘Dil Bechara’ is around the corner we are getting to witness the charm of his ever smiling face on screen for one last time. To understand what he might have gone through before taking such a severe step that stunned his fans, we must have an understanding of the frequency with which his neurons transmit the information. In one of the dialogues of his last movie, he said “Janam kab lena hai, aur marna kab hai yeh hum decide nahi karsakte… lekin kaise jeena hai wo hum decide karsakte hain” But it devastates me how could he decide to end his life.
Thinking about him, at times, I ask myself, will his suicide inspire others to the same? Having said this… I mean this to a certain group of people who seem to be so positive in life and wear a broad smile on their faces 24*7. Depression has surprised all of us with every new example set by it, it has no face. Honestly saying, no matter how closely we know a person we cannot judge what he/she is going through and what is running in his/her mind. There are numerous things that influence bad vibes in one’s life and it is very difficult to define or categorize its symptoms. Best in the field may have answers for this but all I know is “Depression is a lack of hope” and a person to become pessimistic or less hopeful, we all must be equally guilty as a society. Since death is an irreversible incident, we will not be having any chance to undo anything that has caused it. So let’s be nice to ourselves and everyone around, let’s forgive each other’s mistakes, let’s create an ambient space for co-existence, let’s be more sensitive towards others’ thoughts and their perception. Trust me, no problem is bigger if we have a little more courage to face it, a little more patience to hold on, a little more strength to withstand, a little more time for it to pass, a little more optimism before giving up on our life. As they say, there is always a light on the other side of the tunnel, so just hold on and move on. Spread the positivity as much as you can. Be a warrior. Life is precious. Live for this nature, live for your parents, live for those who love you, live for those who are dependent on you, live for your own self, and never forget YOU ARE IMPORTANT. Take care of your mental health. Whenever a thought of suicide strikes your mind, just let it go. You deserve to LIVE.
